Kate is a Doula + Photographer working in Ojai + Venice, Ca.

Within her practice, Kate offers pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula support, lactation education and counseling, and birth and postpartum photography.

Doula

My fascination with birth started at a very young age when my parents began telling me the story of the stroke my mother suffered during labor. It created a natural curiosity to explore and understand birth on a deep level. Years later, when my sister asked me to attend the birth of her first daughter, I felt called to be there. Seeing this beautiful birth first hand was a profoundly healing experience that opened up a calling to be of service and support women through pregnancy and childbirth in the most conscious and empowering way. As a Doula, I work with women from early on in their pregnancy through their birth and postpartum experience, and have expanded my practice to include postpartum support focusing on the principles of Ayurveda to heal and nourish women after birth with food and massage, along with lactation education-counseling, and birth photography. As a birth photographer, it is an honor to capture those intimate moments of labor, birth, and the bonding between mother and child. In 2016, I joined the Doulas of Carriage House Birth, Los Angeles and the wonderful community of Doulas and Educators at LOOM in Los Angeles. In the fall of 2020, I made the move to Ojai, CA. I plan to continue attending births in the Los Angeles area, but at the start of 2022, I will be taking on clients in Ojai, Ventura and Santa Barbara.

PHOTOGRAPHER + ACTRESS

Prior to becoming a Doula, I received my BFA in Fine Art + Photography at the Art Center College of Design and then spent the last 8 years studying and working as an actress and producer in Los Angeles. When I’m not photographing birth, my work focuses on portraiture, lifestyle, and travel.
